The flawless (and apparently quite flawed) Barry Evans dancing to the Spencer Davis Group in Here We Go Around the Mulberry Bush, a classic British '60s film that was my main point of reference as a mod soul revivalist.

Charmed, I'm sure
Madonna is seriously the best

I'm pretty desperately sick of New York right now- I need some sunshine, water and relaxation! Looking at Slim Aarons photographs just makes me even more desirous of a vacation. I'm also pretty convinced that I was born in the wrong era- the late '50s bikinis in the last photo are so amazing! My grandmother gave me one of her old ones but it just didn't fit right, which is so sad as it was a great Pucci print.

Will you walk gently through my shadow

Lyell has been one of my favourite designers for the last few days- the clothes I have from there are all beautifully constructed and designed, pretty clothes to be worn over and over again because they feel like something you've always had, something that you might have found in your aunt's closet. My favourite top and skirt of theirs were in the suitcase of mine that was stolen in Vancouver last November (a throughly upsetting event) so I've been looking for something equally pretty to replace them with, and there are quite a few gorgeous items in the spring collection.
I love the front and the back of this blouse, especially in the cream.

Best girl ever
My best friend is interviewed about her job at a showroom here. She's amazing! She reps the great Samantha Pleet, Lorick and a bunch of other young, cool designers.

what are you currently craving?
At the moment, I am desiring more dresses by Vivienne Westwood. Tonight I put on this white and forest green dress by her that has a built-in corset. I bought it two years ago and it still fits perfectly- its the kind of dress that you wear and everyone can't help but stare at you because it is so perfect. I would love to get some more of the corsetted dresses, in different fabrics and colour, as the other dresses I have by her are all more loose and drapey. Where's the best place in New York to find her clothes? I can only think of Eva that sells her stuff- its too bad she closed her shop in Soho a few years back.

One fallen leaf...
The Nina Ricci show was just gorgeous- I've loved Olivier since his early goth days so its great to see him moving on and evolving but still maintaining his romantic sensibilities. The palette was especially amazing- beautiful and evocative of memories and moments. The gowns were like what a fairytale princess would really have worn, without any Disneyfied prettiness.

Not having internet at home or at work has really destroyed all of my energy to blog, even though I keep thinking of things I want to write about, all day long. For now I'll just stick to keeping a list of amazing clothes and other intriguing things for use once we pay off our debts and get internet at home...
